Our client was contracted to install a Guardrail system for a school bus waiting area. The purpose of this was to provide organisation to the area for school pupils to queue up but most importantly to provide a safe area with only specific access points to the buses.
The whole area was refurbished with new tarmac being laid as well as the installation of the Guardrail. This allowed the contractor to cast in the uprights for the Guardrail and then tarmac around them after. The contractor simply allowed an extra length of tube to the bottom of the upright (Dimension A) on our pre-built posts. This allowed the contractor to achieve a secure fix into the ground but they also still complied to the standards for Guardrails with a Height on a Flat and level surface of 1m to 1.1m from the ground to top of the Guardrail.
Mr. Dimbleby the contract supervisor said “We have been installing Guardrails at our company for many years and generally have assembled and cut the tube on site or ordered in fabricated systems. We discovered Modular Metal Store and noticed that they could provide pre-assembled uprights to our exact requirements. The installation of the Guardrail was considerably faster and saved us lots of down time on site cutting tube and assembling the fittings into the correct positon. We designed the system so that we could also order the horizontal guardrail tube to our requirements meaning we did not need to cut a single piece of tube on site. We used Long Tees in the middle uprights allowing the tubes to be joined neatly inside the fittings providing a neat looking system. What we also like about this system is that if there are any accidents and the Guardrail gets damaged we can simply replace one section without having to fabricate a whole new Guardrail. We will be using Modular Metal Store on our next projects and deploying the labour we saved in other areas of our projects to make us more efficient on site.
Mr. Davis our client said “I have been meaning to re-organise my garage for years but never really got around to it and never really found anything that would fit correctly into the space. When we had our new kitchen fitted and I saw the amount of unused worktop that I had paid for I realised I could put it to good use. The great thing I like about the modular metal solution is that I can add to it easily, take it down and relocate it if I need to and it is extremely robust. The cost of this compared to buying an off the shelf storage solution was much lower and I have something much more robust than is readily available from your local DIY store. The tubes all arrived cut the lengths I requested with an allen key as well as the fixing screws to secure the bases to the worktop. I could install the whole system without any special tools. I will definitely consider using modular metal store for my next home project before I go out and buy something standard.”
Modular Metal store offers full table frames to create a more ridged base for when the table or shelf material is not as thick as in this application.
